As for Guy Sergeant's comment about the demo choices, I assume those kind of artificial sounding mixes are done on purpose as are demos with dynamically or frequency limited demo material.
Hm, I would not be concern i...

I don't want to pull the thread way off but the thought occurred to me while reading here that audio bass never fools me into thinking it is real. Even my middling system once in a while can fool me in the midrange and treble for a few seconds or so....

How did you determine that it is the horn. What makes you think that you can damp a horns mouth at 200 Hz. Have you never read what a room does to frequencies under 400 Hz? If not, check this site out: http://amroc.andymel.euMaxx, I think that you ar...

I've been at Munich High End Show, too.Listened to the Cessaro Horn, too, and last year- 2008- I was in that room for longer time...But honestly, based on the money you had to pay for the whole System (Raven, TW electronics, last year it was an expen...

I am playing with the tube traps and at this point I have a dual feeling about them. They are absolutely phenomenal HF absorbents, in fact much more powerful than any other tools I have heard. They suck HF from the room with a force of a good co...

Any playback, unless it is an idiotic yellow driver speaker, bet bigger with sound become bassier. I however, very seldomly use phrase “subs” as it does not define what it is. The idea to have width modulation channels did come to me and I did a few ...

Hello rowukI am very curious whether u have ever listened our system, or had ever seen our system.I believe u didn't study my system well, so I don't know why u knew our system would have extreme room for improvement.I am curious whether u know many ...

What fascinates me is the whole idea of room acoustic being basically invisible to us - despite measuring differently, we don't really notice the effects of room acoustics in the rooms we aren't actively listening in. Your friend's voice in an audito...

What makes the organ so special is truly not the what, rather the how. Each pipe is not just tuned to the correct pitch, it is also "voiced" to contribute the proper color for the particular register and room that it belongs to. Some registers are li...

Was listening today from Radio Netherlands the Rotterdam Philharmonic Mahler’s 9 symphony, Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting. I very much did not get it from the beginning but the last two movements they grew up and it was very interesting. What I als...
In fact you can model the great sound for very, very small rooms (headphones) with existing direct radiators, have great result and no need for horns.
Yes, this is exactly what I've attempted to do. The rooms in the ...
Perhaps forget about delay and align physically? This would require an interesting and large living room, but with a 50hz full sized horn, it is not impossible.
Unquestionably the physical aliment is the way to go at thos...

Steve Schell and I are currently using Le Cleach horns in our system, The more I listen to them, the more I like them. They sound slightly less directional and beamy than a tractrix, and overall an extremely pleasant sound. W...

As I understand the tapped horns have very small output whole, right? Here is a cool configuration for the folks who have suspended floors and would like to have a relatively large tapped horn do not take a lot of space in room – install the ta...

I kept thinking about cats and cat food (also known as birds) listening habits this afternoon. That's why parrots bob up and down, as well as (less often) twist back and forth on one leg sometimes-- to triangulate and pinpoint a location in all...

As I am slowly put Macondo back to the business a question come to my heard: how can I make the Injection Channel sexier visibly? As now Macondo is re-assembled and reinstalled but with no Injection Channel sitting atop. I extend no room for argument...

Joist sistering is nice not just because it strengthens the whole structure but it also reduces the clear span for the floor sheeting, itself. Depending on how it's done, sistering can actually serve as a structural substitute for beams and shoring,...

I Believe You made a mistake not useing a good horn maker. He is not bending long pieces of wood, he is putting a lot of straight small pieces to get away from forming long sides. Why is he not cutting long 1/16 inch slots along the backside of the s...

Bill, sorry to hear a low followed the high, and I know what you mean about getting old, but you did not mention in this post that you use DSP to improve the "overall" sound quality and to produce specific room effects, but Romy - as far as I know -...

Collin, I think you just got some excellent ideas from Robert, including practical use options for available square footage, and there is maybe more to Romy's responses so far than yields to casual inquiry.I haven't used horns for years, bu...

Well, that is a small room, all right. Regardless, a "mid-bass deficiency" alone could literally evicerate big works. I have written up the Kubelik/BPO/Dvorak 9, because I think so highly of that performance. It should absoutely be loaded to the g...

1. The less we have to fill in for the brain to reconstruct the original event, the better it will sound. This has been proven by psychologists for all of our senses. The closer to reality the sensation is, the less the brain has to work, the more re...

Haha, great analogy Edgar! Actually while writing to you the previous mess, I was listening Dannoys the 1st time after laying down the parquet and that was sooo damn good! No idea if the parquet helped or what but it was mesmerizing (FM program w...

OK, folks, today I have started slowly to setup the playback itself. I took the small bass speaker I have and moved it around the room. The room surprisingly bassy, that is good. While I was doing it I was installing my TT, set up phonostage... I de...
If you put your speakers in the back extra bedroom, you could have your cake and eat it 2. You will have a normal living room and your headphones sound that you love from small room will be back and better then ever and it don't...

This weekend wife told me that I should not do nothing else
but to fix my playback and this was exactly what I wanted to do. Yesterday I took
good 14 hours to play with it, moving boxes, trying to find a good
configuration, making measurements, th...

I appreciate the suggestions on the ceiling of the room; in my room the ceiling is about twelve feet tall and it opens on the side to another room with a taller skylight, so I do not know if this is a problem or not. It may be worth investigati...

Some background first... My first initial foray into buying some decent speakers took me onto the path of Quad 57's, they had their limitation that are well documented i.e. sweet spot, not the most extended treble and not a speaker for a party.....
